Two-time Olympic champion Vic Wild will come to Kazan for the Phygital Games 8

On July 14-15, the Uram extreme park will host the Phygital Skateboarding Games as part of the Fourth All-Russian Urban Games MATCH!.

Participants of the Phygital Games 8 will first showcase their skills in skateboarding on the sports field, and then demonstrate their tricks in a skateboarding simulator. Eight teams will take part in the competition, each with two skateboarders in the main squad and one in reserve. Athletes from Argentina, Colombia, Spain, Bulgaria, as well as four Russian teams will come to Kazan to decide who the strongest is. The guest of the competition will be the two-time Olympic champion in snowboarding, Honored Master of Sports of Russia Vic Wild.

Famous Russian skateboarders will take part in the Phygital Games 8, including champion of Russia in skateboarding-2021 Semyon Kutuzov, member of the Russian national skateboarding team Egor Kaldikov, two-time champion of Russia among under-16 youth Kirill Gavrilov, prize-winner of All-Russian and international skateboarding competitions Markel Andronov, participant of the World and European skateboarding championships Maxim Yezhov, and popular TikTok blogger and champion of Russia in "park" Yvon Martinez.

"Let me first note the format of the competition. I immediately pointed out how brilliant it was. This is the future of any sports discipline. After the game, the team and I were preparing at my house, we were going to meet every other day. We played, repeated each other's tricks. And in the mornings, we went for park training," Russian national skateboarding team member Egor Kaldikov narrated how his team prepared for the games.

"My expectations are always high at all competitions, but especially at these competitions. It was quite an honor to be among the participants. My team and I are ready for this challenge! The phygital format is new for all of us, there have never been such competitions before, so I am so glad to take part in them and be among the first in the world to do so. This will change the usual skateboarding competitions," Matias Dell Olio from Argentina is sure.

"I am looking forward to having fun, trying a new kind of competition and winning together with my team. This format is quite interesting, and I look forward to seeing how it turns out and experiencing it for myself. I trained a lot on skateboarding, and a couple of days before the competition, I will actively prepare in the phygital format," explained Martin Atanasov from Bulgaria.

The Phygital Games are a series of test competitions in phygital disciplines ahead of the Games of the Future, which comprise competitions in 16 hybrid disciplines. Each discipline combines the "phygital" concept (physical + digital) uniting classic sports and esports or VR/AR technology and testing both the physical fitness of athletes and their digital dexterity. The Games of the Future tournament will be held in Kazan from February 23 to March 2, 2024.
