Games of the Future presented at the Russia-Africa Forum

On July 28 in St. Petersburg, within the framework of the Russia-Africa Economic and Humanitarian Forum, Games of the Future international multi-sport tournament were presented at the "Sport is the Norm of Life" stand.

Project head Igor Stolyarov told the forum guests about the upcoming tournament. He stressed that a bootcamp will be organised for African athletes looking to compete at the Games of the Future. They will be provided with the facilities and equipment necessary for Phygital training, as well as accommodation and food.

"Athletes from African countries have already established themselves as formidable players on the world sports arena, and African athletes have achieved multiple sports breakthroughs in recent years. Sport in Africa needs a new vector and a technological breakthrough that would allow it to attract investment to upgrade and build infrastructure, help train new athletes and drive innovation. Thanks to the accessibility and adaptability of the Phygital format, African youth will have more opportunities to express themselves at the world level. Our partners from Africa understand this, therefore they are very positive about the possibility of cooperation within the framework of the Games of the Future project," Igor Stolyarov explained.

The Republic of Tatarstan also had its own stand at the forum that the Rais (Head) of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov visited on the opening day of the event. Part of the exhibition was designed in the Games of the Future style, and everyone could learn more about the tournament, as well as play air hockey with a robot.

Games of the Future are a competition in 16 hybrid disciplines, each of which combines the "phygital" concept (physical + digital) uniting classic sports and esports or VR/AR technology and testing both the physical fitness of athletes and their digital dexterity. The tournament will be held in Kazan from February 23 to March 2, 2024.
