From July 14 to 18, the All-Russian educational seminar for team leaders of the Games of the Future international multi-sport tournament scheduled for 2024 was held in Kazan at Universiade Village.
100 representatives of volunteer program centres from 8 federal districts of the Russian Federation and activists of the Kazan Volunteers movement attended the seminar. The main purpose of the event was to form a squad of the Games team leaders . These are the ones who will perform one of the key functions in managing volunteers, helping to coordinate their activities with the volunteer manager.
" Over 10 years of organizing the key world events, we have accumulated sufficient experience and are now ready to share our knowledge, motivation and management mechanisms to allow the guys on the ground to successfully implement the volunteer program of the Games. The squad of team leaders of the Games of the Future 2024 will become the fundamental legacy of the phygital movement in Russia," noted Alexander Karpov, Deputy Director General of the Directorate for Sports and Social Projects.
The seminar program included an educational block, a visit to the test competitions in phygital skateboarding at the Uram extreme park for a deeper immersion in the specifics of the Games and in volunteer management throughout the competition. In addition to the educational program, an extensive cultural program was arranged for the participants with a visit to the Supercup of Russia 2023 and a sightseeing tour of Kazan.
"The educational program was rich, and it helped participants from different regions to come to a common understanding of what lies ahead in February 2024. It's great that right now, we can already synchronize the systems in order to prepare volunteers as efficiently and comfortably as possible. Workshops on developing presentations of the Games of the Future and activities within the framework of this project were very interesting and useful. The mixed teams managed to find new ideas and specific formats that can be implemented in the future.
We managed to attend competitions in phygital skateboarding and the Urban Games at the Uram Park and the Supercup of Russia at Ak Bars Arena. Taking just the example of these events in practice, we were able to get acquainted with the work of the volunteer corps in Kazan. I am incredibly grateful to the organizers for their work! The time at the seminar was spent with maximum benefit and comfort," Olga Moryakova from the volunteer center of the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics shared her impressions.
At the end of the seminar, each participant received a certificate of completion of the training program for candidates for team leaders of the Games of the Future 2024.
Phygital Games are a series of test competitions in phygital disciplines ahead of the Games of the Future, which comprise competitions in 16 hybrid disciplines. Each discipline combines the concept of “phygital”(physical + digital), uniting traditional sports and eSports or VR/AR technology and testing both the physical fitness of athletes and their digital dexterity. The Games of the Future tournament will be held in Kazan from February 23 to March 2, 2024.
